Hi all! I not been posting here for a while, because while the spring has arrived to my neighborhood it has brought my horrible allergies with it. My past days have been spent in the comfort of my own bed, hiding from all the evil trees that make me sneeze the hell out me. 😀
But, I’m starting to feel better, and I’m totally enjoying it. I got rid of my old winter hair, and changed the black locks to bright red curls that I just adore. Everyone who has had red hair while standing in the sunlight might understand 😛
I also got my Sassy-Nation-Bodysuit from Blackmilk Clothing and oh-my-god it is amazing! If anyone has doubted if it would be worth it to order it, I can say it definitely is. It became instantly one of my favorite pieces of clothing!
But now to the real business which is nails!
I wanted to do something that would match my new hair, so I used red holographic polish Sleigh Me from Liquid Sky. It truly is a perfect polish. It is so beautiful and it combines my 2 favorite qualities of nail polishes; holo + redness ! :3
Then I stamped it with black flower lace pattern, from one of my sisters plates. It is plate from Emily De Molly (number 01)
Then I finished the design with clear rhinestones. 🙂
Ah, I’m finally home from my little vacation to the south. It’s nice to be back, although I had lots of fun seeing my old friends and shopping. I arrived to Helsinki last Thursday, and headed almost right away to CesarsShop, a heaven made for nail artists. The walls were covered with nail polishes and stamping plates, and I just wanted to stay there forever. I have never been in an actual nail accessory store, and the range of different polishes blew my mind. I drooled over the A-England shelf, because I’ve long dreamed of ordering those polishes, and couldn’t resist anymore. Also, Color Club being one of my favorite polish makers, I had to grab few polishes from them also.
The polishes I bought were Saint George and Dragon from A-England, and Gift of Sparkle and Wild and Willing from Color Club. I also bought two stampers, one soft and one hard. My old stamper has seen too many days and I think it was time for new one. I just couldn’t decide which one would be better so I took them both.
After Thursday, I visited Stage 142 (check out my last post for more details ^^) and then went back to Helsinki. I hang out with couple of my friend and went to see Frozen, the newest animation from Disney. I know that it has been out a long while, but I haven’t had anyone to go and watch it with me until now. And it was totally LE-GEN-DA-RY. Best animation I’ve ever seen and I’m and Disney enthusiast, so that’s a lot. The songs and the plot were brilliant and I’m never going to get Let It Go out of my head 😀 Maybe somewhere in the future I’ll do Frozen nails, although it has been quite a popular subject in nail blogs these days…
So, back to the polishes I bought. Or more precisely to Gift of Sparkle. I tried it out yesterday and it was as gorgeous on nail as it was in the bottle. It truly lives up to it’s name and sparkles so beautifully in the sunlight. ❤ But you have to combine it with a black base to get good results, by itself it takes too many layers to cover the nail properly. Also, you need a good top coat to make it come truly alive. More info about the other polishes coming soon 🙂
I’m spent my weekend at a Lan-party named Stage 142 in Jyväskylä with a couple of my friends. For those who don’t know what does one do at a lan-party, they’re purpose is to gather people who share similar interests to play, compete and spend a great time together. I myself played mainly Starcraft 2 and Dota 2.
So, now to my nails. This time the challenge from Lakkaushaaste was to make nails that feature the color silver. So that and the theme of the weekend in mind, I took out my silver matte polish and Bundlemonsters plate number 415.
I had so little time to put to these nails, so the stamping isn’t as perfect as it should be. But because I had to wake up at 5 am. next morning and the clock was already around 12 pm., I had to rush these a bit. I didn’t even use a topcoat (which was not a smart decision because the pattern has already vanished from my nails by now). But maybe I’ll try to do these again someday with a little bit more carefully. 🙂
Now, I shall go to sleep. (Haven’t had almost any in the whole weekend :D)
I had a bad feeling about this day.
Today, I had my Finnish matriculation examination (suom. YO-koe), and due to my laziness and the temptations like Doctor Who, SWTOR, and nailpolish, I hadn’t prepared very well. I thought it wouldn’t be necessary, because I planned to write an essay where the only guideline was the given headline or topic. So I didn’t practice my analyzing skills on different materials like poems and novels.. Well, when I got the exam paper in front of me I noticed that it was a mistake.. The topics were quite rubbish, and I didn’t have much to say about them. I ended up writing about “how our bodies have become our hobbies”. Well, I hope that I got even few pages of good stuff there 😀 But I’ll wait and see…
As sort of comfort I decided to paint some nails! ^^ Always makes me forget my worries (or creates new ones, if I got a bad polish or the stamping fails :D) I decided to use W7 Night Suede nailpolish. It’s a grayish polish with a suede effect, and IMO it feels so wonderfully soft when on the nail :3 Only negative thing I have to say about this polish that it gives me sometimes problems when applying it to the nail – if you don’t got enough polish on your brush (and you actually need it quite much) it will leave bumps and dents in it’s wake. So it requires a lot of polish every layer, but luckily I had to put it only two layers onto the nail.
To two of my nails I used Rimmel’s purple Space dust “Moon Walking”. I love it’s texture and it’s really easy to apply and remove.
I added little decorations using matte silver nail polish and Konad’s stamping plate m63. It’s one of my favorite pattern’s and I like it how you don’t have to even break a sweat, when trying to stamp it. There are so many patterns that won’t grip properly to my current stamper. Got to get a new one, fast!
I made the finishing touches to the gray nails with matte top coat, to keep the texture a little bit different than usual 🙂
I’m Neridan, a Finnish 19-year-old girl from Finland. Recently, I’ve had an urge to start blogging about my nails, because I thought it would be nice to have a collection of my previous nail-designs (and maybe gather a little audience for them ^^). At the moment, I’m only a beginner when it comes to nails, but I hope that this blog will give me motivation to improve my skills.
Little extra about me:
Some may think I’m a bit nerdy, and I don’t disagree. I enjoy playing, mostly MMOs and RPGs like Star Wars The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2, Dragon Age, Baldur’s Gate etc. (and Starcraft! :3) So I spent most of my days (and nights!) in the light of my computer gear.
Metal music is close to my heart, especially power & folk genres. I’ve seen hundreds of gigs and I own even more CD’s than I do nailpolishes (and that’s a lot!)
Also, I may be spotted spending my free time accompanied by the simple pleasures of life, like reading, good food and hanging out with my friends.
I hope that you’ll enjoy this blog and if you do, please follow me! ^^ thanks in advance! (: Also, if interested, check out my Instagram at http://instagram.com/neridan
