In this weeks ”Lakkaushaaste”, the challenge was to make really bold nails that would stand out from a crowd. I’m not very good in such designs, so my boyfriend suggested that I’d make a water marble design with some psychedelic colors.
I tried out some polishes but they didn’t really work well with the water so I took those who worked and went with it.
I used Summer Neon from Wild and Crazy as a base, and a red polish also from them, wet n wilds Glowstick from their Fergie collection and neon yellow from from Flormar for the water marble.
Then I stamped it with black Konad polish and a pattern from my new XL plate. It turned out quite nice in my mind. Hope you like them too! : )
Spring time is here ! 🙂 The Lakkaushaaste group had a challenge this week to make nails that resemble spring somehow. So, when my new Sugar Bubbles plates arrived in the mail, the Japanese styled plate gave me an idea to paint cherry blossoms (=Sakura) on my nails.
These really turned out well, and are probably my favorites from the nails I’ve made so far 🙂 First, I used white Matte nail polish from Seppälä and then painted it over with China Glazes Dandy lyin’ around. The reason why I did that, is because the China is a bit too transparent to be used by itself, so with a good strong white under it, it only needed 1 layer to look good.
Then I started making the stamper decals from the Sugar Bubbles plate – I wanted to give the flowers a bit color so I decided that just stamping wasn’t enough. I bought a rose-colored polish from Rimmel just for the occasion, because I really don’t own any light pink colors. Maybe when the summer nears, I’ll by some :3 And also, that the nails wouldn’t be boring, I made a different kind of decal to my ring finger nail. It is a really pretty picture of a geisha sitting by a river and reading a scroll. To color it, I used the same rose polish that I used for the blossoms, Gray Day from Models Own and Can’t Find My Czechbook from O.P.I.
I hope you like these as much as I do! ^^
I’ve had a hard time to come up with good ideas for the weekly challenges from the “Lakkaushaaste” group in Facebook. I have started to make so many nails but stopped always in the halfway because they just were not working for me. But today I started to reshape my nails because the last shape was so vulnerable, often breaking when the length reached certain point. So I took out my nail file and got rid of the round shape of the tips ^^. My nails are still bit short for this but I think I’ll love them when they grow a little bit to this shape.
Ah, and then I also had to paint them! The challenge this week was to do matte nails, so I used Coral Prosilk Matt Effect nail enamel. Then I saw my Konad m73 and thought the square pattern could match cutely with the coral color. 🙂 So here you go:
The pattern on my thumb failed a bit because it was still a bit wet when I applied the top coat.. But it had failed about five times already because I’m so terrible at not doing anything while my nails dry. Should seriously consider the quick dry top coat. 😀

I’m spent my weekend at a Lan-party named Stage 142 in Jyväskylä with a couple of my friends. For those who don’t know what does one do at a lan-party, they’re purpose is to gather people who share similar interests to play, compete and spend a great time together. I myself played mainly Starcraft 2 and Dota 2.
So, now to my nails. This time the challenge from Lakkaushaaste was to make nails that feature the color silver. So that and the theme of the weekend in mind, I took out my silver matte polish and Bundlemonsters plate number 415.
I had so little time to put to these nails, so the stamping isn’t as perfect as it should be. But because I had to wake up at 5 am. next morning and the clock was already around 12 pm., I had to rush these a bit. I didn’t even use a topcoat (which was not a smart decision because the pattern has already vanished from my nails by now). But maybe I’ll try to do these again someday with a little bit more carefully. 🙂
Now, I shall go to sleep. (Haven’t had almost any in the whole weekend :D)
“Colors last a lifetime ´n fade to gray…”
It’s time for the weekly nail polishing challenge entry from “Lakkaushaaste”. 🙂 This week we had to find inspiration from something we have heard – music, nature etc. It was so hard just to choose one song! The ideas were streaming constantly to my head as I searched my music library. “I could do this! And that! And that and that!”
Finally I found a song that gave me the idea for these nails. It was Everything Fades To Gray from Sonata Arctica. I pictured ombre nails that faded from their colorful base to plain a gray color in my head. So I dug out my polishes and began working
First I put matte white polish to my nails, so that the colors would be more intensive. Then I used my basic makeup sponge to apply the colorful & gray polishes. Luckily I had chosen polishes of good quality, so the colors became smooth and clear after only couple of layers.
They still looked a bit naked, so I added a black pattern from Bundlemonsters plate 201. I expected it to fail miserably because the pattern was quite detailed, but against the odds it succeeded well (apart from the first stamping to my little finger that’s somewhat messy).
Polishes I used:
- Blue: w7 – Blue – Tini
- Purple: O.P.I – Suzi & The 7 Düsseldorfs
- Red: Wild & Mild – Primadonna
- Orange: Orange Nails polish from Seppälä
- Green: wet n wild – Sage in the City
- Gray: Coral Prosilk – Matt Effect NO 407
- Black: stamping polish from Konad
- Base & Top coat: Sally Hansen – Diamond Shine
